Kolomna (English spelling)

A city in the Moscow Oblast in western Russia. A river port city located about 100 km southeast of Moscow, near the confluence of the Oka and Moskva rivers. An ancient capital mentioned in the Chronicles in the entry for 1177, it became part of the Moscow Principality in 1301 and was attacked by the Tatars four times as a fortress city that secured the southeast. It is one of the oldest centers of steam locomotive manufacturing in Russia, and currently produces diesel engines, large machine tools, textile machinery, synthetic rubber, and more. There is a pedagogical university. A railway and highway run between Moscow and Ryazan. Population: 144,642 (2010).

ロシア西部，モスクワ州の都市。モスクワの南東約 100km，オカ川とモスクワ川の合流点付近に位置する河港都市。年代記の 1177年の項に記される古都で，1301年モスクワ公国領となり，その南東を固める要塞都市であったため，4度にわたりタタール人の攻撃を受けた。ロシア最古の蒸気機関車製造の中心地の一つで，現在ディーゼル機関，大型工作機械，紡織機械，合成ゴムなどの製造が盛ん。教育大学がある。モスクワとリャザンを結ぶ鉄道，ハイウェーが通る。人口 14万4642（2010）。
