A movement centered on educating girls, founded in 1910 in the UK by RS Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy Scouts. In Commonwealth countries, it is called Girl Guides. Thanks to the efforts of Powell's sister and wife, it spread to countries around the world, and in 1920 a World Federation was formed. As of 1981, 104 countries are members, with approximately 8 million participants. In Japan, the first group was formed at Koran Girls' School in Tokyo in 1920, and it became popular under the name Japan Women's Guide Group.
