...The flowers are about 12 cm in diameter, the outer tepals are elliptical with a white line in the center, and the inner tepals are oblanceolate and erect. There are about 20 horticultural varieties, of which the most famous are Yaguruma, Washinoo, Gosho Beni, and Origami Crane, beloved by Emperor Kokaku. There are also varieties with variegated leaves and those that bloom all year round. About four species are cultivated in the UK.
