Partition wall - Kaiheki

A wall that separates each dwelling unit in an apartment or condominium. Under the Building Standards Act, partition walls in apartment buildings and other such buildings must be constructed without gaps that could cause problems in terms of sound insulation, and must be fire-resistant, semi-fire-resistant, or fire-retardant, and must reach the attic or ceiling. マンション・アパートなどの各住戸の間を区切る壁。建築基準法上、共同住宅などの戸境壁は、遮音上問題となるすきまのない構造にすると共に、耐火構造または準耐火構造または防火構造とし、小屋裏または天井裏に達するように設けなければならないとされている。
