A Paleolithic cave art site in the Hautes-Pyrenees department, on the border with Spain in southern France. It dates to the Aurignacian period. A group of positive and negative handprints were made along the rock wall from the floor of the so-called "Church of the Hands." The handprints are painted red or black, and of the 150, 124 are of the left hand. Some of the handprints have had one or more fingers amputated, and some scholars believe that these have a special religious meaning due to their connection with tribal finger-amputation rituals.
