...It is famous for being joined by Dostoevsky. Around 1844, young intellectuals began to gather at the home of Mikhail Vasil'evich Petrashevskii (1821-66), a translator at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in the autumn of 1845, they met weekly to discuss issues, calling themselves the "Friday Society." The subjects of their research included the works of the French utopian socialist Fourier and the works of the German progressive philosopher LA Feuerbach.
