Creation - Creation
This refers to land reclamation. In the Edo period, the Hagi clan actively cultivated new fields to increase their income. There were various types of reclamation, including official reclamation carried out directly by the Hagi clan, haryo reclamation carried out at their own expense by retainers who received the right to cultivate as a reward, temple and shrine reclamation, and self-financed reclamation carried out by landowners and others at their own expense.

干拓のことです。江戸時代の萩藩は、新しい田を作って収入を増やすために、積極的に開作を行いました。開作にも、萩藩が直接行った公儀[こうぎ]開作・家臣がほうびとして開作の権利をもらい、自費で行った拝領[はいりょう]開作・寺社が行ったものを寺社鋪[じしゃしき]開作・地主などが自費で行った自力[じりき]開作などがあります。
