A type of seine fishing. A bamboo pole called a mukodake is attached to one side of a square or trapezoidal net to support it on the water surface, and a sinking rope is attached to the other side to keep it submerged. The entire net is supported by two outrigger rods attached at right angles to both ends of the mukodake, and iron rings are attached at appropriate intervals to both sides of the net with arrow ropes passed through them. Eight or so drag ropes are attached to the rock ropes, which are kept inside the boat. The target school of fish is guided onto the net by scattering bait and turning on fish-attracting lights at night, and when the time is right, the arrow ropes on both sides are tightened and the drag ropes are raised at the same time, bringing all four sides of the net above the water and surrounding the school of fish.
