Karimatagaya - Karimatagaya

Japanese: カリマタガヤ - かりまたがや

An annual grass of the grass family (illustration) that prefers sunny grasslands, especially slightly moist sandy soil. The stems and leaves grow densely in clumps, are thin, and can reach a height of 30 cm. The leaves are located at the bottom of the stem, linear, about 6 cm long and 4 mm wide, pale green and soft, with long hairs growing sparsely on the edges and sheaths. A long inflorescence is produced at the top of the stem from summer to autumn. The inflorescence has 1 to 4 thin tufts that stand at an angle, but usually there are 2 or 3 tufts, and the branches are shaped like the crotch of an arrowhead.

日当りのよい草地，とくにやや湿った砂地を好むイネ科の一年草（イラスト）。茎は葉とともに密に叢生（そうせい）し，細く，高さは30cmに達する。葉は茎の下部にあり，長さ6cm，幅4mm内外の線形で，淡緑色で軟らかく，縁と鞘（さや）に長い毛がまばらに生えている。夏から秋に茎の頂に花序を長く抽出する。花序には1～4個の斜めに立った細い総（ふさ）があるが，普通はこの総が2個または3個で，鏃（やじり）の雁股（かりまた）のような枝ぶりをもつ。
