Foreign Legion

Japanese: 《外人部隊》 - がいじんぶたい
Foreign Legion

... refers to an army organized by hiring foreigners, a form of mercenary. While the armies of modern nations are conscripted or volunteer national militias based on loyalty and patriotism to the mother country, the Foreign Legion is an armed group made up of mercenaries who are contractually obligated to fight in exchange for monetary compensation. It is mainly used for maintaining security in colonies, and rarely plays a central role in national defense. The origin of the Foreign Legion can be traced back to the mercenary armies of ancient Greece, and foreign mercenaries began to be used on a large scale in France around the 15th century, and foreign mercenaries were recruited from all over Europe during Napoleon's Egyptian expedition.

...After that, he made "Avalanche" (1923), which depicts the psychological relationship between a boy and his stepmother in a remote village at the foot of the Alps, "L'amour" (1924), a romantic film adaptation of "unanimist literature" based on an original screenplay by Jules Romains, about a boy wandering around searching for a woman in a photo shop, and "Thérèse Raquin" (1928), based on a novel by Emile Zola. In 1928, he became a French citizen, but was married to Robert de Frères and French His satirical film Les Gentlemen (1928), based on the comedy by Encis de Croissant, was banned for criticizing the dignity of parliament and the cabinet (the ban was lifted in 1929), and in despair he went to Hollywood, where he made Greta Garbo's last silent film, The Kiss (1929), as well as a German version of Garbo's film Anna Kriti (1930), but he was unable to adapt to Hollywood and returned to Japan in 1931. His films The Foreign Legion (1934), co-written with fellow Belgian screenwriter Charles Spaak (1903-75) and starring his wife Rosée, Hôtel de la Mimosa and La Cité des Beaux-Arts (1935) are not only masterpieces of French cinema in the 1930s, but are also counted among the most dazzling works in world cinema history. However, La Cité des Beaux-Arts was banned by Goebbels after the Nazi invasion, and Fidel was forced to take refuge in Switzerland during the war. He was also invited by Alexander Korda to shoot "Knight Without Armor" (1937) starring Marlene Dietrich in England, and "Voyages" (1938) in Germany.
