A long, narrow peninsula jutting out from north to south into Ise Bay, south of Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. It is 40 kilometers long and 5 to 14 kilometers wide. A group of islands are scattered offshore at the tip, dividing Ise Bay and Mikawa Bay. The topography is a hilly area with a low north and high south, with an elevation of about 40 meters in the north, 70 meters in the middle, and 90 to 100 meters at the tip south of Noma-Kawa, and it gets higher as you go south. The Otaka-Obu fault runs between the peninsula and the Owari Hills. The geology is generally Neogene, with the Tokoname Group in the central and northern parts and the Morozaki Group (sandstone, shale) in the southern part. The strata slope northward, and a magnificent sea cliff can be seen at the tip. The sandstone vein of Oza (Minamichita Town), which has attracted geological attention, is said to be a fossil of liquefaction during an earthquake, and the conglomerate area of the inland sea is Ryoke metamorphic rock and is considered evidence of a submarine landslide. The remote island of Himakajima is made of alternating layers of sandstone and shale from the Shizaki Group, and the entire island of Shinojima is made of granite. The climate is generally warm, with an average annual temperature of around 15°C and an average annual precipitation of around 1,500 mm. In the past, numerous reservoirs were used for rice paddy cultivation, but the water shortage was eliminated after the Aichi Irrigation Canal was opened. In the central and northern parts of the coast, the coastal industrial areas of Southern Nagoya and Kinuura were formed by reclaiming shallow seas, and the southern part has become a tourist area with beaches, tourist mandarin orange orchards, and fishing.
