Woman - Onna

Japanese: オンナ - おんな
Woman - Onna

...The ensemble, centered on the kulintang, which is made up of gongs arranged horizontally on a frame, is characterized by its five-tone scale and regular division of time using colotomy (musical punctuation). Other representative Philippine instruments include the mouth harp (bamboo kubin, metal onna), the boat-shaped plucked kujapi (kachapi), the nose flute, the split drum, the pounded bamboo pipe, and the headband-style whistle. Vocal music is characterized by free rhythm and falsetto-heavy choruses and narrative solos in the north, and by the Muslim singing of the south, which is rich in ornamental sounds.
