Hot spring village - Onsen shuraku

Japanese: 温泉集落 - おんせんしゅうらく

A settlement that developed as a tourist and recreational area centered around hot springs. Places where hot springs or mineral springs gush forth generally have various facilities for tourism and relaxation, attracting many visitors. Hotels, inns, souvenir shops, and other facilities are concentrated there, forming unique urban areas. In Japan, where there are many hot springs and people enjoy bathing in hot springs, there are many hot spring settlements. Atami and Beppu are particularly popular and are known as hot spring cities.
