Santo - San
During the Edo period, the three territories were under direct control of the shogunate and had by far the largest populations: Edo, Osaka, and Kyoto. Also known as Sanga-no-tsu. Edo was the largest castle town and the political center, Osaka, known as the "kitchen of the world," was the commercial and economic center, and Kyoto, the ancient capital, was the religious, academic, and cultural center.
