Olympic Medal of Merit

…From the 17th Rome Games in 1960, medals were attached to chains or ribbons and worn around the athlete's neck. In 1974, the IOC established the Olympic Order, which was to be awarded to those who had made distinguished contributions to the Olympic movement. There were three levels: gold, silver, and bronze.
