〘noun〙① Bones after cremation. A person who has become bones. Remains. Also, a dead person. ※Haiku, Solo Recitation One Thousand Verses in a Day (1675), Part 1: "Blooming flowers, a smoky bone Buddha on a withered tree, a bird reciting the Isshintourei Sutra" ② A word used to insult someone. It is also used to mock a thin person. ※Haiku, Hirohara Kai (1703), Part 3: "A bone Buddha burning in the fire in my chest while still alive"
