An electronic platemaking machine for color printing. A platemaking machine that automatically breaks down the colors of a color photograph or picture to create the original plate for printing, and then makes further corrections. The original is scanned with a point light source, and three color filters and phototubes convert the shades of each color into electric current strengths, from which negatives or positives are made for each color plate and the black plate. Meanwhile, a computer works to perform masking (correcting defects in the printing ink and the color of the original). → Photomechanical production/multicolor printing
