…In 1778 (An'ei 7), he was appointed as a Confucian physician for the Fukuoka Domain, and in 1783 (Tenmei 3), he became head of the Western Academy, but in 1792 (Kansei 4), he was released from his position. He followed the Sorai school of thought, but also respected Confucius, and his son Shoyo perfected it, calling it the "Kimon school" and becoming influential in the west. His main works include "The Source of the Analects of Confucius," "Spring and Autumn Annals: A Study of the Left Side," and "The Tales of Higo." …
