The central settlement of the Higashimera district in the northwest of Saito City, central Miyazaki Prefecture. It is said to be the place where the Kikuchi clan, the rulers of Mera during the Nanboku-cho period, fought against Prince Kanenaga and fled to after being defeated. Mera Kagura, a dance performed at Ginkyo Shrine, which enshrines Iwanagahime-no-mikoto, is designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property.
