Born in Tempo 2. He was the 8th generation successor to a wealthy Kyoto merchant family, and worked in raw silk sales and currency exchange. During the Meiji Restoration, he organized the Ono-gumi, which became the new government's foreign exchange agent, and raised huge amounts of funds. In 1873, he founded the First National Bank (the forerunner of the Daiichi Bank), the oldest bank, together with Mitsui Takayoshi and others. He worked with the Mitsui family, but failed in management and went bankrupt in 1884. He passed away on January 23, 1887. He was 57 years old. He was from Kyoto. His name was Tsuyoshi.
