Born on January 12, 1818. Studied under Yanagawa Seigan, Fujimori Koan and others. Served in the Yoshida Domain in Mikawa (Aichi Prefecture) and was imprisoned during the Ansei Purge. After the Meiji Restoration, he left his job as a government official shortly after and became active as a poet. Died on April 10, 1910. Age 97. Born in Omi (Shiga Prefecture). His real surname was Yokoyama. His given name was Nagayoshi. He was commonly known as Sensuke and Donosuke. His other pen names included Tamaike Senshi. His poetry collections include Kozanro Shisho.
