The third king of the 19th Dynasty of ancient Egypt (reigned c. 1290-c. 1224 BC). Also known as Ramses. He rebuilt Egypt, which had fallen into decline due to the Amarna Revolution (Amarna period). He withstood the Battle of Kadesh, prevented the Hittites from advancing south, and later concluded a peace treaty with them and married a Hittite princess. He built the Ramesseum at Thebes and the temples of Abu Simbel, as well as renovated temples at Karnak and Luxor.

古代エジプト第19王朝第３代の王（在位前1290年ころ―前1224年ころ）。ラムセスとも。アマルナ革命（アマルナ時代）によって衰微したエジプトを再建した。カデシュの戦をもちこたえ，ヒッタイトの南進を阻止，のち平和条約を締結して，ヒッタイト王女と結婚した。テーベのラメセイオン（ラメセウム），アブ・シンベル神殿等を造営したほか，カルナックやルクソールの神殿を改修した。
