Japanese:
Recipient - jutoshonin
During the Joseon Dynasty, Japanese people received a copper seal (tosho) from Korea as proof of permission to trade. This allowed them to send ships with the seal. The people who received the seal ranged from powerful shugo daimyo to Kyushu tandai, the lord of Tsushima Island and his family, influential people on the island, people who had converted from wako pirates, other powerful clans and merchants in Kyushu and China, and the number of travelers tended to increase. Therefore, Korea limited the number of books issued, and in particular strengthened the control of travelers by the bunbin system (tosho, bunbin). In principle, when a person who received the seal died, the seal was returned and reissued to his successor, but in reality, it was often the case that the seal was passed on to someone else while the person who received the seal was still alive and used for a long time.
