Meanwhile, the Onakigawa Cotton Company, established in Tokyo in 1887, began producing wide-width cotton cloth in 1888 using 200 imported power looms, which gradually increased, mainly as a side business run by the spinning company. Later, in 1889, the Kyoto Cotton Yarn Weaving Company and the Osaka Weaving Company were established, and cotton cloth factories equipped with large numbers of power looms were established in various places.
