…The Suzuki clan became the governor of the river, and at first they pulled their own large nets, but after 1783 (Tenwa 3), they became contractors for wholesalers in Edo and fishermen around Lake Kasumigaura, and selected tax collectors by bidding, and made them pay tax. From 1722 (Kyoho 7) to the following year, the "Goryu River Law" was enacted to regulate fishing equipment such as Daitoku nets, but poor catches continued and Tamasato Goryu River began to decline. In addition, the stretch of the Edo River from Ryukei Bridge to Nakano Bridge was designated as a Goryu River, where carp for the Shogun's property was caught. …
