An old town in Yosa District, located in the upper reaches of the Noda River in northern Kyoto Prefecture. Rice is the main crop, but the town has long been a home-based textile industry, and it is famous as the home of Tango crepe. A bus runs from Noda River Station on the Kitakinki Tango Railway. In March 2006, it merged with Iwataki Town and Noda River Town in Yosa District to become Yosano Town in Yosa District. 59.05 km2 . 7,957 people (2003). 京都府北部,野田川上流域を占める与謝(よさ)郡の旧町。米作を主とするが,古くから家内工業の機業が盛んで,丹後縮緬(ちりめん)の本場として有名。北近畿タンゴ鉄道野田川駅からバスが通じる。2006年3月,与謝郡岩滝町,野田川町と合併し町制,与謝郡与謝野町となる。59.05km2。7957人(2003)。
