A chief retainer of the Hikone Domain in the late Edo period. The fourth son of chief retainer Utsugi Hisazumi. His name was Nobumichi, his pen name was Kichiho, and he was commonly known as Hansuke. He had a stipend of 950 koku. In 1822 (Bunsei 5), he was adopted by a retainer of the domain, Okamoto Naritsune. In 1836 (Tenpo 7), he became a middle retainer, in 1851 (Kaei 4), he became a chief retainer, and the following year he became a chief retainer. He studied under Yanagawa Seigan, and associating with many patriots, he was influenced by the Sonno Joi ideology, and was disliked and rejected by the lord of the domain, Ii Naosuke, but after the Sakuradamon Incident (1860), he returned to the domain government and put an end to the chaos, and in August 1862 (Bunkyu 2), he replaced Naosuke's close aides and took the lead in the domain government. He assisted the young lord Naonori and had him side with the Imperial Court during the Boshin War. His works include the "Kosekisai Shishu." His grave is at Gotokuji Temple in Setagaya, Tokyo. 江戸後期の彦根(ひこね)藩家老。家老宇津木久純(ひさずみ)の第4子。名は宣迪(のぶみち)、字(あざな)を吉甫(きちほ)、通称半介。950石取。1822年(文政5)藩士岡本業常(なりつね)の養子となる。36年(天保7)中老、51年(嘉永4)家老格、翌年家老となる。梁川星巌(やながわせいがん)に師事し、多くの志士と交わって尊攘(そんじょう)思想の影響を受け、藩主井伊直弼(なおすけ)に忌まれ、退けられていたが、桜田門外の変(1860)後、藩政に復帰して混乱を収め、62年(文久2)8月直弼の側近を更迭し藩政を主導した。幼主直憲(なおのり)を補佐し、戊辰(ぼしん)戦争では朝廷側にたたせた。著書に『黄石斎詩集』がある。墓所は東京・世田谷(せたがや)の豪徳寺。 [藤田恒春] 『『近江人物志』(1917・滋賀県教育会)』 出典 小学館 日本大百科全書(ニッポニカ)日本大百科全書(ニッポニカ)について 情報 | 凡例 |
