Okada Shogen

Okada Shogen

...Magistrate of Mino Province in the early Edo period. A native of Owari. Called Shogen. He initially served Oda Nobunaga. In 1584 (Tensho 12), he left Owari after a dispute with Nobunaga's second son Nobukatsu, and after serving under Maeda Toshiie, Kato Kiyomasa, and Toyotomi Hideyoshi, he joined Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1600 (Keicho 5) and was granted a fief of 5,000 koku in Kani and Haguri counties in Mino. He also served as magistrate of Yamada Province, and in 1629, he was commissioned to build Ise Shrine, and was appointed Ise no Kami (Junior Fifth Rank) for his achievements. In 1631, his fief was increased and transferred to Ono County. [Nishida Maki]...
