The Book of the Dead is a religious book that was buried with the dead in ancient Egypt. It is written on papyrus and contains hymns to the gods, lessons and spells for the afterlife and resurrection. It was established and developed during the New Kingdom period (mid-16th century BC to late 11th century BC). A novella by Orikuchi Shinobu. It was first published in the magazine "Nihon Hyoron" in 1939. After extensive rewriting, it was published in 1943. It is a fictional expression of the author's research into ancient times. A puppet animation by puppet artist Kihachiro Kawamoto. Produced in 2005. Running time 70 minutes. Based on the novel. Won numerous awards, including the Excellence Award at the 9th Japan Media Arts Festival held by the Agency for Cultural Affairs and the Grand Prix in the feature film category at the China International Animation Digital Arts Festival.
