"As Low As Reasonably Achievable" is an international principle for all radiation exposure advocated by the ICRP (International Commission on Radiological Protection). Since the use of radiation brings about great benefits, a certain degree of exposure is unavoidable, but it is based on the idea that the associated radiation exposure dose must be kept as low as economically and socially permissible.
