Yutaka Omura

Japanese: 大村裕 - おおむらゆたか

1925－ A neurophysiologist from the late Showa to Heisei eras.
Born in Gyeongseong, Korea on January 4, 1925. After working as a professor at Kanazawa University and other institutions, he became a professor at Kyushu University in 1974. He later became a professor at Toyama University of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. He elucidated the regulatory mechanisms of hunger and satiety at the neural circuit level. In 1990, he served as chairman of the International Society for the Study of Obesity. In 1988, he received the Japan Academy Prize. He graduated from Kyushu Imperial University.

大正14年1月4日朝鮮京城生まれ。金沢大教授などをへて,昭和49年九大教授となる。のち富山医薬大教授。空腹感,満腹感の神経回路レベルでの調節機構を解明。平成2年国際肥満学会議会頭をつとめた。昭和63年学士院賞。九州帝大卒。
