Suminaga Omura - Suminaga Omura
1636-1706 A daimyo from the early to mid-Edo period.
Born on August 21, 1620. The fourth son of Itami Katsunaga, the Shogunate's financial magistrate. He was adopted by Omura Sumishin, and in 1655 became the fourth generation lord of the Omura clan of Hizen Omura Domain (Nagasaki Prefecture). During his 56-year reign, he improved the various systems of domain administration and promoted a policy of reviving Buddhist temples as a measure against Christianity. In 1667, he founded the domain school Shugikan. He died on August 21, 1660, at the age of 71.

寛永13年8月21日生まれ。幕府勘定奉行伊丹勝長の4男。大村純信の養子となり,慶安4年肥前大村藩(長崎県)藩主大村家4代。56年間の治世中,藩政の諸機構を整備し,キリシタン対策のため仏寺再興政策をすすめた。寛文10年藩校集義館を創設。宝永3年8月21日死去。71歳。
