When stress is applied to a piezoelectric material such as quartz or lead zirconate titanate ceramic, an electric charge is generated on its surface (this phenomenon is called the piezoelectric effect or piezoelectric effect). It is also called a piezoelectric pressure gauge. Pressure is applied to the quartz element via a pressure-receiving plate such as a diaphragm.
