...The Etruscans called themselves Lasenna (Lasna), Etrusci (Tusci) in Latin, and Tyrenoi (Tyrenoi) in Greek. They developed a unique culture based on Greek culture, which reached its peak in the 7th and 6th centuries BC, and had a great influence on other ancient Italian peoples, including the Romans. They established independent and autonomous city-states, and 12 city-states formed the Etruscan Confederation, but this was not a unified nation. Many of their ruins remain throughout Etruria, and countless artifacts, including vases, sarcophagi, sculptures, crafts, and paintings, have been excavated from their tombs. ...
