The highest official position in Korea and Silla. Also called Sangshin. Unlike other positions, it did not have an affiliated government agency, and there were no written regulations for the rank it was assigned to, so it is unclear. In addition, one Sangdaedeung was appointed per king, and in principle, he would move forward and backward with the king. According to the "Samguk Sagi," it was established in 531 and continued to exist until the fall of Silla. However, it is highly likely that its prototype had already taken shape by the end of the 5th century. The Sangdaedeung was none other than the head of the high-ranking aristocratic class called the Daedeung, and was established to control and represent the Daedeung class under the king.
