A devout worshipper of Baal, it is said that she encouraged the king to "commit himself to doing evil in the sight of the Lord" (1 Kings 21:16). He persecuted the prophets of Yahweh (1 Kings 16:31, 19:2). She was killed during Jehu's revolt.
