Born in 1790. A samurai of the Mito Domain, Hitachi. A disciple and son-in-law of Fujita Yukoku. He served Tokugawa Nariaki when he became lord of the domain, and as one of his close aides, supported the domain's reform of government. He served as a member of the Shokokan, assistant professor at the domain school Kodokan, and waka teacher. He passed away on May 23, 1830. He was 54 years old. His nickname was Taira. He was commonly known as Heitaro. His pen name was Katsudo. His works include "A Study of Imperial Selections of Waka Poets of All Eras" and "A Single Water Lily."
