...During the late Sengoku period, the Date clan used the resulting strong military power to fight against the Satake clan of Hitachi, who were advancing north, over the ownership of the people of southern Oku. In 1589 (Tensho 17), Date Masamune attacked and defeated Ashina Yoshihiro (the second son of Satake Yoshishige) of Aizu, but Toyotomi Hideyoshi attacked Odawara, bringing the conflict to an end. The Kasai and Osaki clans, located on the northern edge of the Date clan, were powerful, controlling seven Kasai districts and five Osaki districts, but they struggled to control their own clans until the end, and eventually came under the control of the Date clan, suffering the consequences of Hideyoshi's Oshu Punishment. Meanwhile, in northern Oku, clan rebellions continued until the end, and in the case of the Nanbu clan, the clans from Ichinohe to Kunohe were divided and united in various territories. ...
