Japanese: 岩戸景気 - いわとけいき

This is the colloquial name for the economic expansion phase of the fourth cycle, which lasted from July 1958 to December 1961. It is the third longest (42 months) since the Second World War, after the Izanagi boom and the Heisei boom. It was named after the Ama-no-Iwato myth, as it was a larger boom than the Jinmu boom. Active technological innovation led to an economic expansion led by capital investment, as "investment attracts investment." At the same time, sales of black-and-white televisions exploded after the marriage of Crown Prince Akihito in 1959, and household electrical appliances known as the "three sacred treasures" (televisions, electric refrigerators, and electric washing machines) rapidly became popular. In December 1960, the National Income Doubling Plan was announced, ushering in a period of full-scale high economic growth.

1958年7月から 1961年12月まで続いた第4循環の景気拡大局面の俗称であり，いざなぎ景気，平成景気に次いで第2次世界大戦後，第3位の長さ（42ヵ月間）を誇る。神武景気をしのぐ大型景気ということから，天の岩戸神話にちなみ岩戸景気と命名された。活発な技術革新により「投資が投資を呼ぶ」という設備投資主導の景気拡大が生まれ，同時に 1959年の皇太子明仁の成婚を機に白黒テレビが爆発的に売れて，「三種の神器」と呼ばれた家庭用電気機器（テレビジョン，電気冷蔵庫，電気洗濯機）が急速に普及していった。また 1960年12月に国民所得倍増計画が発表され，本格的な高度経済成長の時代に突入した。
