A welding method in which a high temperature is generated by passing an electric current through electrically conductive molten slag, and a welding rod is continuously fed into the slag, melting it together with the base metal. The molten slag and metal are surrounded by a water-cooled copper wall to prevent them from spilling. It is mainly used for vertical butt welding of thick steel plates 25 mm or more, and welding is performed automatically from bottom to top. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |

電導性の溶融スラグに電流を通じて高温を発生，スラグ中に連続的に溶接棒を供給し，母材とともに溶融する溶接法。溶融したスラグ・金属がこぼれないよう水冷銅壁で囲む。おもに25mm以上の厚鋼板の突合せ縦向き溶接に適用され，下から上へ自動的に溶接される。
