Also called vaginal discharge or vaginal discharge. It refers to the secretions from the female genitals. Depending on the color, it is called white, yellow, or red vaginal discharge. White vaginal discharge is caused by the vaginal lining epithelium, yellow vaginal discharge is caused by white blood cells, and red vaginal discharge is caused by red blood cells. Physiological vaginal discharge belongs to the white vaginal discharge category, is clear or white (it turns yellow when it gets on underwear), and increases during ovulation, pregnancy, and sexual arousal. Healthy vaginal discharge contains Döderlein's bacillus, which keeps the vagina acidic and prevents the invasion of bacteria (the vagina's self-cleaning function). Pathological vaginal discharge is caused by Trichomonas parasitism, infection with Candida, miscellaneous bacteria, gonorrhea, etc., genital inflammation, erosion, weakened or worsened hormone secretion, tumors, etc. When treating this condition, it is more important to treat the cause than simply eliminate and absorb the secretions.

〈おりもの〉〈こしけ〉とも。女性性器の分泌物をいう。色調によって白帯下，黄帯下，赤帯下と呼ぶ。白帯下は腟(ちつ)内膜上皮，黄帯下は白血球，赤帯下は赤血球の混入による。生理的帯下は白帯下に属し，透明または白色（下着につくと黄色になる）で，排卵期，妊娠時，性的興奮時にふえる。健康時の腟帯下はデーデルライン腟杆(かん)菌が含まれ，腟内が酸性に保たれて，細菌の侵入を阻止している（腟の自浄作用）。病的帯下はトリコモナスの寄生，カンジダや雑菌，淋(りん)菌などの感染，性器の炎症，糜爛(びらん)，ホルモン分泌の衰えや悪化，腫瘍(しゅよう)などによって起こる。治療に際しては，単に分泌物を排除，吸収させることよりも，原因を治療することが重要。
