One of the early modern Japanese dances. It is also called Kabuki dance, Shosagoto, Keigoto, etc. It is inserted in Kabuki plays or performed independently. It originated from Kabuki dance, which was created by Okuni of Izumo around 1603 by modifying the elegant Nembutsu dance. After Okuni Kabuki, dance was the main focus in the early Kabuki era, such as Onna Kabuki and Wakashu Kabuki. Even after Yaro Kabuki, which advocated the full range of Kyogen impersonations, and during the Hure Kyogen era, many pieces with a particular dance theme were inserted, and even in the era of full-length Kyogen, dances such as "Deha", "Michiyuki", "Kamisumi", and "Onreigoto" were inserted as a part of the drama. After the Kyoho era, dance music developed significantly, female actors who were good at dance appeared, and it became the rule to add one or two acts of theatrical dance dramas. After Tenmei, the first Nakamura Nakazo and other leading actors became excellent dancers, breaking the tradition of female actors monopolizing dance, and pieces with leading roles began to be composed. There are many types of plays, such as Sanbaso, Ishibashi, Dojoji, Tanzen, Kusazurihiki, Matsukaze, Soga, Yamauba, Wankyu, Hyoshimai, Michiyuki, and Henkei, and they represent Japanese dance.
