Born in the 5th year of Eiroku. Lord of Tatsuno Castle in Harima (Hyogo Prefecture). Following Toyotomi Hideyoshi, he became Lord of Takeda Castle in Tajima (Hyogo Prefecture) in 1581. He admired and assisted the Confucian scholar Fujiwara Seika, and was instrumental in helping the Korean scholar Kang Gon, who had been taken prisoner during the Keicho Invasion, return to Japan. At the Battle of Sekigahara, he initially sided with Ishida, but was later not allowed to side with the Tokugawa, and committed suicide on October 28, 1602, by order of Ieyasu. He was 39 years old.
