...The hilly area around the lake has been open since ancient times, and many ancient tombs and remains of the jori system remain, as well as Shidori Shrine, the first shrine in Hoki. During the Warring States period, the castle of the Nanjo clan was built on Ueshiyama in the south, and Nagowada was its castle town. The current center is Matsuzaki on the lake, where the San'in Main Line runs, and Togo Onsen (a salt-containing gypsum spring with a temperature of 85-94°C) is located.
