Epichlorohydrin rubber

It is a type of polyether synthetic rubber, and currently there are two types: epichlorohydrin homopolymer (a) and epichlorohydrin-ethylene oxide copolymer (1:1) (b). Diamines, urea, imidazolines, etc. are used for vulcanization. Homopolymers are flame retardant, have a high specific gravity, and are easy to process. The heat resistance and ozone resistance of the vulcanized material are superior to neoprene, and its oil resistance and solvent resistance are superior to nitrile rubber (acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber). It has lower gas permeability than butyl rubber. It is used in belts, automobile and aircraft parts, and adhesives.

ポリエーテル系の合成ゴムの一種で，現在，エピクロロヒドリン単独重合体(a)およびエピクロロヒドリン-エチレンオキシドの共重合体(1：1)(b)の2種類がある．加硫には，ジアミン，尿素やイミダゾリン類などが用いられている．単独重合体は，難燃性で比重が大きく，加工性もすぐれている．加硫物の耐熱性，耐オゾン性はネオプレンより，また耐油性，耐溶剤性はニトリルゴム(アクリロニトリル-ブタジエンゴム)よりすぐれている．ガス透過性はブチルゴムより小さい．ベルト，自動車および航空機用部品，接着剤に用いられている．
