Edo's Three Great Fires

Japanese: 江戸三大火 - えどさんたいか

...It is also known as the Kurumamachi Fire, Ushimachi Fire, and Heitora Fire. It was one of the three biggest fires in Edo, after the Great Meireki Fire and the Great Meguro Gyoninzaka Fire. The fire broke out in front of Sengakuji Temple in Shiba Kurumamachi just before noon on March 4, 1806 (Bunka 3). Fanned by a strong southwest wind, it spread to Daimyo-koji, Kyobashi, Kanda, and Asakusa, and was finally put out by heavy rain that had been falling since early morning the next day.

From the Great Fire of Meguro Gyoninzaka

…The great fire of Edo in 1772 (An'ei 1). It was one of the three great fires in Edo after the Meireki fire. The fire broke out at Daienji Temple on Gyoninzaka in Meguro in the early afternoon of February 29th, and was fanned by a strong southwest wind, spreading to Azabu, Shiba, the castle grounds, Kyobashi, Nihonbashi, Kanda, Hongo, Shitaya, Asakusa, and other areas, reaching Senju. It was finally extinguished in the evening of the following year's New Year's Eve. …
