…Of these, the Asahi Mountains, with their high-level low-relief surfaces at an altitude of 1,200 to 1,600 meters, are relics of the peneplain mentioned above, and Mt. Asahi, which protrudes a level higher than that, is thought to be a remnant hill. In addition, at an altitude of about 600 meters, there is an Eck bed (a ridge between two confluent rivers, a type of river terrace) with fresh riverbed gravel, which indicates that the uplift of the mountains continued until very recently.
