There are five species of poppy that do not contain morphine and are commonly grown for flower beds, in pots, and as cut flowers: (1) Iceland poppy, P. nudicaule L. (English name: Iceland poppy), is simply called poppy and grown for cut flowers and for flower beds. Although it is a perennial plant, it is treated as an autumn-sown annual plant.
