Japanese: 参詣記･参宮記 - さんけいきさんぐうき

Records of pilgrimages to shrines and temples. A pilgrimage is a visit to a shrine or temple, while a sangu is a visit to a shrine, but the term sangu has been used only in reference to a visit to Ise Grand Shrine since the Middle Ages. Some records include the origins and history of shrines and temples, descriptions of the shrine buildings and temple buildings, and travelogues along the way, and are excellent in terms of religious history, history, and literature. Older works include "Record of a Pilgrimage to Ise Grand Shrine by the Monks of Todaiji Temple" and "Record of a Visit to Kumano," but there are many records related to pilgrimages to Ise throughout the Middle Ages and early modern times.

社寺へ参り詣でたときの記録。参詣は社寺に参り詣でること，参宮は宮に参ることであるが，ことに参宮の語は中世以降伊勢の神宮に参る場合に限って用いられている。社寺の由緒，沿革より，社殿･伽藍の説明，途中の紀行を記したものもあり，宗教史上，歴史上，文芸上すぐれたものがある。古いものとして，《東大寺衆徒参詣伊勢大神宮記》《熊野御幸（くまのごこう）記》などがあるが，伊勢参宮に関するものが中世，近世を通じて多い。
