Aso Uchinomaki [Hot Springs] - Aso Uchinomaki

Japanese: 阿蘇内牧[温泉] - あそうちのまき

A hot spring in Aso Town, Aso District, northeastern Kumamoto Prefecture. It is also called Uchimaki Onsen or Aso Onsen. It is located in the crater floor of the northern half of Mt. Aso, in the western Aso Valley, along the Kurokawa River. Gypsum spring, 40-55°C. Since its discovery in 1898, it has developed into one of the hot springs representing the foot of Mt. Aso. There is a bus service from Uchimaki Station and Aso Station on the Toyohashi Main Line. From the observation deck at Daikanbo in the north, there is a magnificent view of Mt. Aso. The average summer temperature is around 20°C, so it is also popular with summer vacationers. Many tourists travelling along the Kyushu Cross-Island Expressway (Yamanami Highway) use this hot spring.

熊本県北東部，阿蘇郡阿蘇町にある温泉。内牧温泉，阿蘇温泉ともいう。阿蘇山北半部の火口原，阿蘇谷西部に位置し，黒川に沿う。セッコウ泉，40～55℃。1898年に発見されて以来，阿蘇山麓を代表する温泉として発展した。豊肥本線内牧駅および阿蘇駅からバスの便がある。北方の大観峰の展望台からは，阿蘇の眺めが雄大である。夏の平均気温が20℃前後のため避暑客でもにぎわう。九州横断自動車道(やまなみハイウェー)を通る観光客の利用も多い。
